Tá an t-ádh dearg ormsa a bheith ag dul d’obair a bhfuil mo chroí istigh ann, sé sin an láithreoireacht teilifíse. Ní haon eisceacht é togra is déanaí s’agam, Croí na Ceiste le Caoimhe.
Sa tsraith úr seo beidh mé ag déanamh iniúchadh ar na ceisteanna móra atá ag dó na geirbe ag daoine óga an lae inniu. Gach seachtain, pléifidh muid le hábhar amháin atá lárnach i saol na ndaoine óga agus an deis tugtha do lucht mo linne a gcuid taithí féin a roinnt le dul go croí na ceiste. Sna ceithre chlár, labhróidh mé le daoine óga chun tuairimí s’acu a fháil ar réimse ceisteanna ina saolta féin, ó reiligiún agus timpeallacht go hoideachas gnéis, agus íomhá colainne.
Ní ón fholús a thagann na cláir seo. Bíonn obair na gcapall de dhith leis an taighde, léiriú, láithriú, stiúradh agus eagarthóireacht a thabhairt chun críche. Is fiú an obair sin nuair is féidir guthanna úra, óga, cumasacha agus Gaelacha a chur ar an scáileán teilifíse agus is cinnte go gcuireann toradh na hoibre sin bród orm.
Beidh mé i gcónaí buíoch as an deis a bhíonn agam comhráite suimiúla a bheith agam le daoine agus cuireann sé ola ar mo chroí cé chomh toilteanach is a bhíonn siad i gcónaí a dtaithí agus a dtuairimí a roinnt liom. Ó Ghort a Choirce, go Doire agus ó Bhaile Meánach go Cnoc Uisnigh san Iarmhí, bhí an deis agam na ceisteanna seo a phlé le daoine suimiúla agus spreagúla a chuir ag machnamh go mór mé. Tá súil agam anois go gcuirfidh siad ag machnamh sibhse fosta agus go mbeidh sibh liom le dul go croí na ceiste.
Leanann an tsraith ‘Croí na Ceiste le Caoimhe’ ar aghaidh ar BBC 2 Thuaisceart Éireann ag 10pm Dé Luain 16, 23 agus 30 Bealtaine.

Croí na Ceiste le Caoimhe
I am extremely lucky to be working in a sector that I am very passionate about, namely presenting television. My latest project is no exception, Croí na Ceiste le Caoimhe.
In this new series I will be analysing the big questions and issues that regularly affect young people today. Every week, we will discuss a topic central to young people’s lives and we will hear personal experiences that go straight to the heart of the question. In the four episodes, I will speak with young people to get their opinions on a range of issues in their own lives, from religion and environment to sex education and body image.
These programmes do not simply come out of nowhere. A lot of work goes into research, production, staging, directing and editing, in order to produce the final product. That work is worth it when it leads to new, young, capable, Gaelic voices being heard on the television screen, and I have to admit that this makes me proud.
I will always be grateful for the opportunities I have to enjoy interesting conversations with people and I’m always delighted at how willing they are to share their experiences and opinions with me. From Gortahork to Derry, and from Ballymena to the Hill of Uisneach in Westmeath, I had the opportunity to discuss these issues with interesting and inspiring individuals who gave me plenty to think about. I hope that they will now also get you thinking and that you will join me in delving to the heart of the question.
The series ‘Croí na Ceiste le Caoimhe’ continues on BBC 2 Northern Ireland at 10pm Monday 23 and 30 May.
