Bhí cúpla lá iontach speisialta ag Feirm Bhaile Uí Thuatháile le déanaí toisc gur tháinig Daidí na Nollag ar cuairt chun bualadh le páistí Dhún na nGall agus Gaeilge a labhairt leo. Tháinig páistí ó Leitir Ceanainn, ó Bhaile Dhún na nGall, ó Ghaoth Dobhair, ón Tearmann agus ó Bhaile Uí Thautháile ar ndóigh, chun an fear mór é féin a fheiceáil. Thosaigh an oíche le seacláid the ghalánta agus sólaistí i siopa na feirme, sular bhuail na páistí le Daidí na Nollag. Tháinig a shíofraí chomh maith le cuidiú a thabhairt dó agus is cinnte go raibh atmaisféar an Phoil Thuaidh le brath ina phluais. Bhí deis ag na páistí comhrá fada a bheith acu le Daidí na Nollag, amhráin a chanadh dó nó fiú dreas damhsa a dhéanamh dó! Chuaigh na páistí abhaile sona sásta le bronntanais ina lámha acu agus iad faoi dhraíocht ag Saintí - go mór mór nuair a fuair siad amach go raibh Gaeilge agus achan teanga eile ar domhan ar eolas aige! Ach ina theannta sin, chuaigh a dtuismitheoirí abhaile le glasraí úra deasa don dinnéar ón tsiopa feirme. Má tá bia áitiúil mar seo ag teastáil uait do dhinnéar na Nollag, beidh John, úinéir Fheirm Bhaile Uí Thuatháile, ag margadh na bhfeirmeoirí maidin Dé Sathairn 17 agus maidin Dé hAoine 23 Nollaig, nó tig leat bualadh isteach chuig an tsiopa am ar bith i rith an lae!
Ballyholey Farm had a couple of very special days recently as Santa Claus made a surprise appearance to meet with Donegal children and speak some Irish to them. Kids from across Letterkenny, Donegal Town, Gweedore, Termon, and of course Ballyholey, all came to meet the man himself. Before meeting Santa, the night began with beautiful hot chocolates and treats in the farm shop. Santa's elf's even came along to help him, which certainly added to the North Pole atmosphere in his grotto. The kids all had long chats with Daidí na Nollag, while some even sang songs and created dance routines for him! They then went home with presents in their hands and in a sense of awe after the experience - especially when they found out that he knew Irish and every other language in the world! But, their parents also went home with lovely fresh vegetables from the shop for dinner. If you would like some of this delicious local produce for your own Christmas dinner, John the owner of Ballyholey Farm, will be at the farmers market on Saturday morning, the 17th of December, and Friday morning, the 23rd of December, or alternatively you can call into the shop anytime during the day!
