San fhíseán bheag thíos gheobhaidh tú blaiseadh den obair a bhíonn ar siúl againn mar chuid den phlean teanga.

Tá Leitir Ceanainn aitheanta mar Bhaile Seirbhíse Gaeltachta agus plean teanga, bunaithe ar thaighde a rinneadh leis an phobal agus le gnólachtaí an bhaile, le cur i bhfeidhm againn chun an Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn le pobal, teaghlaigh, gnólachtaí, eagraíochtaí agus seirbhísí sa cheantar áitiúil. Is é Líonra Leitir Ceanainn an cheanneagraíocht atá freagrach as bearta an phlean a chur chun cinn. Tá an obair seo á maoiniú ag Foras na Gaeilge le hairgead poiblí ó An Roinn Turasóireachta, Cultúir, Ealaíon, Gaeltachta, Spóirt & Meán.

Tuigeann muid gur obair forbartha straitéiseach agus obair forbartha pobail atá i gceist chun pobal labhartha na Gaeilge a chumasú agus a neartú. Baineann an ‘pobal’ sin le gach aon duine atá báúil don Ghaeilge, cibé aois iad, cibé cúlra atá acu, cibé caighdeán Gaeilge a bhíonn a labhairt acu.

Tá muid anseo chun deiseanna foghlamtha, cainte agus sóisialta a chur ar fáil, chun feiceálacht na Gaeilge a mhéadú sa cheantar agus chun tacú le gnólachtaí agus eagraíochtaí seirbhís trí mheán na Gaeilge a sholáthar.

In this video you will get a wee taste of the work we do as part of the strategic language plan.

Letterkenny is a recognised Gaeltacht Service Town and there is a language plan based on research done with individuals, families, businesses and organisations in the local area. Líonra Leitir Ceanainn is the lead organisation with responsibility for implementation of the plan and promotion of Irish. This work is funded by Foras na Gaeilge with public money fromThe Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport & Media.

We understand that it takes strategic development and community development work to empower and nurture an Irish speaking community. That community includes everyone who cares about Irish, whatever their age, whatever their background, whatever the current standard of their Irish.

We are here to provide people with opportunities to learn, speak and socialise through Irish, to increase the visibility of Irish in the area and to support businesses and organisations to provide a service through Irish.

Enjoy this wee taster! And to learn more, come to our AGM on Thursday 16 February @7:30pm in our office at 7 Castle Street, F92YP93
