SEACHTAIN NA GAEILGE – An tréimhse is fearr sa bhliain?

Cuireadh tús le Seachtain na Gaeilge 2022 le ceolchoirm in Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair tráthnóna dé Luain 28 Feabhra. Bhí Caoimhe Ní Chathail – Ambasadóir Iarthuaiscirt Sheachtain na Gaeilge – mar Bhean a’ Tí don oíche. Taispeántas de shaothar na háite a bhí ann leis An Crann Óg, Gearóidín Bhreathnach, Sam Ó Fearraigh, Brainse, Frank agus Eileen Sweeney agus Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh ar an stáitse.

Is í Seachtain na Gaeilge (nó SnaG) an fhéile Gaeilge is mó sa domhan. Bíonn an-chraic ann le ceolchoirmeacha, céilithe, ciorcail chomhrá, turais agus i bhfad níos mó! Bunaithe ag Conradh na Gaeilge i 1902, ceiliúrtar Seachtain na Gaeilge ón chéad lá de mhí Mhárta go dtí 17 Márta in Éirinn agus ar fud na cruinne. Anois, tá a fhios againn go bhfuil níos mó ná seachtain i gceist leis an fhéile ach tá níos mó ná seachtain dé dhíth ar an Ghaeilge, nach bhfuil!

Tugann Seachtain na Gaeilge an deis do gach duine úsáid a bhaint as an Ghaeilge. Is cuma cén leibhéal Gaeilge atá agat, seo deis do chuid Gaeilge a chleachtadh, idir chainteoirí dúchasacha, fhoghlaimeoirí agus ghlan tosaitheoirí. Beidh neart imeachtaí ag tarlú i Leitir Ceanainn agus fud fad an chontae.

SEACHTAIN NA GAEILGE – The best time of the year?

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2022 began on the evening of Monday 28th February with a concert in Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair. Caoimhe Ní Chathail – Northwestern Ambassador for Seachtain na Gaeilge – was the hostess for the night. It was a show of the area’s work with An Crann Óg, Gearóidín Bhreathnach, Sam Ó Fearraigh, Brainse, Frank and Eileen Sweeney, and Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh on stage.

Seachtain na Gaeilge (or SnaG) is the biggest Irish Language festival in the world. There is great craic agus concerts, ceilis, conversation circles, trips and a lot more! Founded by Conradh na Gaeilge in 1902, Seachtain na Gaeilge is celebrated from the first day of March to the 17th of March in Ireland and around the world. Now, we know that there’s more than a week with the festival but more than a week is needed to celebrate Irish, isn’t there!

Seachtain na Gaeilge gives the opportunity to everyone to use Irish. It doesn’t matter what level of Irish you have, this is your chance to practise your Irish, between native speakers, learners, and complete beginners. There will be plenty of events happening in Letterkenny and throughout the county.
